Not talking about some local TV commercial or Youtube Video. I will stand corrected if you can show me 100% that Apple Motion was used on a true VFX composite on a commercial product. Apple seemingly have given up on it as being anything more.ĪE's interface is horrible, buggy and convoluted and I'd switch to Motion in a second if the plug in and 3D support was even half there.
However most of us are dealing with more and more 3D (from tracking to compositing) - and its just not built for any of that. its cheap and it does a lot of what you want it to with minimum fuss. The depressing thing is it could be MUCH better package with some promotion and a few tweaks. This despite its 3D navigation being sooooo much better than AE. stroll too far down the 3D Graphics path and its broken beyond belief. its just under supported and lacks functionality outside of simpleish titles and quick fixes. I work with enough of them to know.īecause its underpowered? not really.

No serious motion graphics professional would take a second look at motion. these folks have legitimate points so don't write them off, just because their demands are different to yours. īut I guess that's just one of those things that are never going to happenīen you're a trainer - and don't have the same needs as others. I'd say that it's by far and away the best value mograph software ever released, but that's clearly not enough. plus, speaking personally, I find it a lot more fun to work with, and the more fun a piece of software is to work with the better the results you can get out of it. So many people, including me for a number of years, have casually dismissed Motion as a useless toy for folks who don't understand motion graphics and while I have to admit there's a huge amount that AE can do that Motion is still a long way from being capable of, there's a whole lot that I'm sure many editors and mograph experts have no idea that it can do.Īnd there are things that Motion can do much faster than AE that I think someone ought to try and point out. There's definitely a case for showing just how much Motion can do, which is way more than you'd imagine.
